Hair loss!!!

I have been stressing out!!! I have always had really thick hair, and I have always complained that my hair is so thick and have always had it thinned out. Well, maybe that wasn't such a bad thing. Last week, I went to get my hair trimmed, and I have been going to the same hairstylist for almost 4 years, so she knows my hair pretty well. Anyway, she was talking to me and as she was cutting my hair, she said, "Ever since you got sick, your hair has thinned out a ton! I don't even have to thin it at all."

I had noticed that I was shedding an abnormal rate of hair since my surgery, but didn't think anything of it. But since she said that, I have kind of worried. Why would I suddenly start losing so much hair? And why am I still losing a lot, especially being pregnant. I have never lost very much hair during pregnancy, but there is still a lot of hair in the bathroom when I style my hair and when I wash it, a lot comes out.

Is this something I should worry about? Should I ask my doctor why this would be happening?? I guess I have taken my hair for granted, and I don't know if a medical condition would cause this, or if it is just a phase, but it has been over a year since the surgery and I am pregnant so I shouldn't be losing much hair, right? Does anyone have any comments or suggestions that may be helpful to me??

I shed a ton with my Grave's disease. But, it's a little better now, but I think having long hair doesn't help.
If you're really worried about it, ask your doctor. If it's something, he'll know what to do, if not, at least you'll know.

Oh Holly friend I went through this exact same mess this last summer. Just ask Stacey I cried to her a few times about all of my hair woes. I wasn't pregnant at the time but I was stressed out of my mind. It was during the last few months that Eric was in DC and that single mother thing was a killer on my poor hair. I went to the doctor and they did a blood test to see if it was thyroid related the only thing they found was a slight Vitamin D deficiency. My hair probably fell out drastically for three or four months I went to be in tears everynight, I never washed it in fear it would make it worse. It was awful, but it did eventually stop but I am just saying I so know your worry. Since I have been pregant it has all come back in but my doctor said that some women have thicker hair while pregnant and others can lose it, it just all depends on your hormones. I think it very well could be related to your pregnancy, but demand a blood test if you are worried about it. Could be an iron defeciency as well. Sorry for the novel I am just so know the feeling...

I've been feeling the same way this past week. I'm probably not losing as much as you, but I kept complaining to John because I was pulling strands after strands out of my hair. It seems to be better this week...I don't know what was going on. Maybe it's a pregnancy thing, I don't know. I say ask if you're worried.

Oh Holly, I dont think it is anything to worry about...you could loose a little hair anyways...I think if it keeps happening a couple months even after your done being pregnant, maybe you could worry! If you want to know about hair loss...ask Nick...he doesnt understand how I can still have any hair on my head!

I have really thick hair too, but I don't lose hardly any when I'm preggers, then once I deliver it all comes out! I would just ask your doc just to make sure something isn't really wrong.

You are such a cute mom...I don't know how you're doing it with two kids and being pregnant!
