More Flooding...... shocker! (not)

Living on a river definitely has has its disadvantages this season. This is the third time we have experienced flooding, and it may be just the beginning.
I woke up this morning to get the girls ready, and I looked out the back window and noticed there was a pond. I thought, "hmmm, there is not supposed to be a pond there."
I called Jon, he came home from work. Then I got a hold of the city. They came to check things out. What the deal is, there is a river behind us and a canal to the east of us. When the guy from the city came to check it out, there was a large log blocking the canal causing backing up and flooding.

This is the east side of the house, where the canal flowing over was coming to.

The shed to the left is Jons parents, the other is ours we built when we moved in. The water came up to the bottom, but did not get in.

This is to the west of our house, where we had sandbagged to stop the river because the sandbags were there, it was blocking the flooding water to go anywhere so we had to move some of the sandbags so the water could go back down river.

This is over where the canal was flooding over.

Another angle. By the way, that is Jons chicken coop. Our neighbors moved and gave it to us, and Jon came home with 12 chicks last week. Luckily, they are still in our garage since they are still small.

This is the log that was blocking the canal.

Maybe log is an understatement, that is like a full size tree!

They dug a trench to help direct the water.

Even though the flooding has been very scary, we have been very lucky that it hasn't hit the house. It cam right up to the concrete, but didn't cross the concrete. We just keep praying that the house will be safe through the season.

Oh my gosh! I didn't realize how bad it was. That sucks! The young women need to do service, can we come help sometime?

Oh Holly it must be so disheartening every times this happens. But what a blessing it has not hit the house, you must be so panicked. We live right behind the Logan River and it's flooding over too. Thankfully we have a huge field septating it from our house and it has not crossed it yet. We have sandbags ready and waiting, but I am just praying it stays where it should.
