Half Marathon

I did something that I never thought I would come close to doing. I ran a half marathon (okay I didn't run the whole thing, I was nervous about running it  and that I might collapse or something halfway through, so I walked almost the first two miles, then decided I could run it and ran the rest of it--over 11 miles running!)

This was one of the hardest things I have ever done. I was by myself, so I had to keep pep talking myself that I could do it. In fact, halfway through I called Jon and said I couldn't do it. But, I kept running and I finished. When I had about 3 miles left, I felt my body begin slumping. I was almost in tears! We had just come out of Ogden Canyon and were near rainbow gardens on the parkway, I was just pushing myself. Then I come around the corner and my brother Jay and his wife were standing there to cheer me on. I cannot tell how much that meant to me, that gave me that last umph to finish! When I saw that finish line I sprinted as fast as I possibly could! I got cheers from Jon and my girls, and his sisters, my bro-in-law, and their kids, my dad showed up right after I finished, but he was there. I was so happy to finish!! I did it in 2 hrs and 57 minutes. I know that is really slow, but I did it. Originally, I was just planning on walking it. We had a group called Students In Motion from Weber State, they all walked it, but I wanted to run it. I only ran a total of 5 times more that a mile before the marathon, so I was glad I was able to do it.

Abbie's 4!!

Abbie turned 4 on May 15th. She is one sassy 4 year old, that's for sure!!

To explain the last 3 pictures, Kaylee asked if she could be the photographer. I let her take pictures. She laid out each of Abbies gifts on the floor and took pictures of them. This was only a few of the things. Kaylee takes her photography very seriously!

More Flooding...... shocker! (not)

Living on a river definitely has has its disadvantages this season. This is the third time we have experienced flooding, and it may be just the beginning.
I woke up this morning to get the girls ready, and I looked out the back window and noticed there was a pond. I thought, "hmmm, there is not supposed to be a pond there."
I called Jon, he came home from work. Then I got a hold of the city. They came to check things out. What the deal is, there is a river behind us and a canal to the east of us. When the guy from the city came to check it out, there was a large log blocking the canal causing backing up and flooding.

This is the east side of the house, where the canal flowing over was coming to.

The shed to the left is Jons parents, the other is ours we built when we moved in. The water came up to the bottom, but did not get in.

This is to the west of our house, where we had sandbagged to stop the river because the sandbags were there, it was blocking the flooding water to go anywhere so we had to move some of the sandbags so the water could go back down river.

This is over where the canal was flooding over.

Another angle. By the way, that is Jons chicken coop. Our neighbors moved and gave it to us, and Jon came home with 12 chicks last week. Luckily, they are still in our garage since they are still small.

This is the log that was blocking the canal.

Maybe log is an understatement, that is like a full size tree!

They dug a trench to help direct the water.

Even though the flooding has been very scary, we have been very lucky that it hasn't hit the house. It cam right up to the concrete, but didn't cross the concrete. We just keep praying that the house will be safe through the season.

Jon's Graduation!!!

Jon finally graduated from Weber State University with his Bachelors in Electronic Engineering Technology! It was a very exciting day, especially considering he has been going to school for the past 8 years, he could be a Doctor or something by now. I am very proud of him!! He got a 4.0 the last few semesters of college and graduated with a very good GPA. He worked very hard through school.

This was before his convocation ceremony. Doesn't he look handsome!!??

Him and Tye with their favorite professor, Julie. She was so nice!! Jon and Tye were her boys. They were called "The Jon and Tye Show" up in their department. They were very well known up there.

Our family. Do the outfits look familiar? Easter gave us a good excuse to get new clothes for graduation! It worked out perfectly. By the way, do you notice the mischievious baby? She is just innocently pulling her sisters hair.

The cute guy and I!

Jon with his twin brother, James. It meant the WORLD to Jon to have his twin there. He was so happy he made it!

Jon with James and their two sisters, Heather and Janene. Their other brother was unable to make the graduation because he is a school teacher and was teaching.

Everyone that came to support Jon! Thank you everyone! It meant a lot to Jon. James' wife Liz was also there, but took their boys to the car. You know how hard it is going to events with children?

Jon and Tye. Jon would not have made it without Tye. They were "study buddies" for the last 5 years. Jon was missing an art credit at the end, so Tye graduated a semester before them. These two worked their butts off, and it has finally paid off!!!

Jon and Brian, another one of the "study buddies." Jon got to know some really great people while going to school.

It is nice to have this chapter of our life over with. I will graduate next year, and then Jon will move on to his Masters, but it has been so nice having a husband again and not living as a single mom any longer. It has been an adjustment having him home, but the girls LOVE being able to see their Daddy everyday!

Kenzie's First Haircut!

Kenzie had her first haircut back in February or March. We decided it was time to cut the mullet off. I didn't realize how long it actually was until I looked at these pictures. That's a lot of hair for a 7 or 8 month old.

Easter 2011

I keep thinking that I need to do updates, I have so many!! So, I will do one at a time until I am caught up, starting with Easter.

Our little family in our Easter clothes.

We were all anxiously awaiting the Easter Egg hunt---- my mom allows the adults to participate.

Kaylee and Abbie, Abbie LOVES dum dums. She cared more about the sucker than the picture.

Kenzie LOVES Grandpa!

She also REALLY LOVES plastic easter eggs.

They were both VERY tired!

Kenzie's Easter surprise for us, she was just under 10 months old on Easter.
